Paddling Calendar

The Canoe Outpost offers all of our trips on the Little Manatee River every day we are open. Whether you need one boat or 50, we are ready to serve you 7 days a week.  For larger groups of 6 boats or more, we can organize and service a custom trip for you on any waterway and on any day with advanced reservations and customized pricing.

Many folks may wish to paddle other waterways but only need one or two boats. To serve you, we now offer trips to Cockroach Bay and the Braden River and moonlight trips on the Little Manatee on pre-scheduled dates. Just e-mail or call to reserve your boat for any trip on our calendar. We will call you to get payment information and finalize your reservation
.

Reservation and cancellation policies for calendar-scheduled trips:

Due to the nature and limited capacity of these scheduled trips on other waterways and special trips on the Little Manatee River, our reservation policy is different than for our standard Little Manatee River Trips run from our home base. Reservations for calendar scheduled trips are paid for in full at time of reservation. Cancellations made at least 72 hours before the trip time will receive a full refund. Cancellations may be made by e-mail or phone but are not confirmed until you receive a confirmation code from us via e-mail or phone. No refunds will be given for cancellations made within 72 hours of the scheduled trip time or for late shows or no shows for any reason.

Transportation or boat launches will be held a maximum of 15 minutes after scheduled times.
Trips are run rain or shine. If a trip is cancelled by the Canoe Outpost due to safety, weather or other concerns or factors, a full refund will be issued. Please remember that this is Florida. Rain at your location does not necessarily mean rain at the trip site. Canoe Outpost does reserve the right to make adjustments in trip plans or itinerary due to weather, water conditions, insufficient reservations or other factors. Canoe Outpost also reserves the right to deny service to anyone deemed to be an unsafe trip participant for any reason.

Cockroach Bay Trips: The Cockroach Bay Aquatic Preserve is an environmental gem in Tampa Bay. It is located at the mouth and south of the Little Manatee River. It is comprised of the largest contiguous mangrove estuary in Tampa Bay along with the Little Manatee River, one of the most natural river systems in Florida. The estuary’s shallow waters, extensive mangrove islands, bird rookeries and barrier islands offer a relaxing glimpse of the bay before development. Please see our Trips/Cockroach Bay Trips page for more information and pictures.
A typical trip to explore Cockroach Bay is about 4 hours long. The trip times will vary based on the needs of the group and the tides for the day as it is best to avoid low tide. You may choose to check in at the Canoe Outpost and travel by bus to the put in point or to meet at the bay to maximize your flexibility.
Cost:   $49 for a double kayak or canoe    $40 for a single kayak $25 for a personal boat transport (available with a minimum of 2 personal boats or in conjunction with a rental boat)

Braden river Trips: The Braden River is located in Manatee County between Bradenton and Sarasota. It is a slow moving river which may be easily paddled in either direction. Although the paddler will see increasingly more residential development along it’s banks, in sections the Braden paddler can get a glimpse in to old Florida. Birds, turtles, alligators and even otters are seen. Please see our Trips/Braden River Trips page for more information and pictures.
A typical trip on the Braden River is about 2 ½ hours of paddle time. Most folks combine the paddle trip with lunch at the takeout end of the trip at The Linger Lodge. Voted one of the top 5 weirdest restaurants in Florida, the Linger Lodge is a great place to look out over the river while having a drink or some of their famous gator bites or orange blossom pie.
Cost:   $49 for a double kayak or canoe   $40 for a single kayak   $20 for personal boat transport (available with a minimum of 2 personal boats or in conjunction with a rental boat)

Moonlight Paddles on the Little Manatee River:  The Little Manatee takes on a different appearance at night when the moonlight shines off your paddles, moonflowers bloom and the sounds of nature surround you. A Canoe Outpost staff member will escort the trip.
A typical moonlight paddle will begin about 8:00 PM but may vary due to moonrise times. The paddle time is about 2 ½ hours through the state park and the route and time may change due to water levels. There will be a stop on the trip for light snacks and drinks, all provided by the Canoe Outpost staff.
Cost: $59 for a double kayak or canoe ($10 extra for a third person in a canoe) $40 for a single kayak $20 for personal boat transport plus $10 per person guide & catering fee

Our 2014 paddling calendar is not yet available. Please call for information, and feel free to join us on the 15th for our moonlight paddle! Check our special events page for more information.
